Our Story

My interest in sustainability was sparked in the 90’s when I worked for a paper mill group in Kent which had just commissioned a recycled fibre plant. I was lucky enough to be part of a team that developed recycled paper sales to 70,000+ tonnes of A4 paper a year. Our flagship 100% recycled brand EVOLVE became the market leader and is still the benchmark when it comes to recycled paper quality.

After 10 years I moved on & decided to use my experience and knowledge to start 4R Office, an online ecommerce business supplies company. It was a shock to the system. To be exposed with all support gone was a steep learning curve. 4R provided me with an income but it was tough because as 4R grew so did the operational demands and it became difficult to sustain.

It demonstrated that it was possible to start and grow a low-cost business in this market. However it was clear that long term success requires the owner to be freed up from day to day activities to allow them to concentrate on more sales and marketing.

At the same time I became aware of a growing demand for flexibility at work. There are over 3 million people juggling work with caring for a loved one. Many are forced to give up work altogether. Other groups unable or unwilling to work regular hours were stay-at-home parents, over 50’s, those with mobility issues or those simply looking for a better work/life balance.

I started work on a business model that would allow them ultimate flexibility. Working from home, using their experience and skills to tap into their contacts and local business community. With a trend towards buying locally it's what many progressive business owners are looking for........then Covid hit.

The phrase 'nothing is more constant than change' has always been true but technology seems to have increased the speed at which our lives are changing. This creates a fertile environment where new ideas can grow. With an evolving market and a different breed of buyer emerging there is an opportunity for a fresh approach.
